Every morning at 5:30 am, a fearless band of cyclists gathers at the gates of Big Camp, ready to set off on a massive adventure. I, your humble editor, might be happy to join them on a short ride to the next suburb—but these riders mean business.
Decked out in serious bikes, special shoes, and full lycra kit, they head from camp all the way to the ocean and back, covering huge distances before most of us have had our first coffee. Take a look at the map from yesterday’s ride—it’s impressive!
I’d love to say you should join them, but after watching them pedal past at lightning speed, I think I’ll need a lot of training before next year. The amazing part? Our conference president and many others have been doing these daily rides for years, proving that this isn’t just a hobby—it’s a Big Camp tradition.
For those brave enough to try, it’s an early-morning adventure you won’t forget.
