SUMMARY:How to Be a Church Secular post-Christians want to join - Part 2
DESCRIPTION:Australia is changing. More and more people now identify as atheist or “no religion\,” and traditional approaches to church often don’t connect the way they once did. But the gospel of Jesus is still good news\, and it still speaks powerfully into people’s lives today. \nIn this workshop\, you’ll discover practical and effective ways to share your faith in a culture that often feels distant from church. Without watering down the truths we hold dear\, you’ll learn strategies that genuinely connect with people where they are. We’ll explore what’s working right now\, and how you can confidently invite your secular friends—not only so they’ll feel comfortable attending\, but so they’ll want to come back and experience more. \nIf you’ve ever wondered how to bridge the gap between faith and the people you care about in today’s Australia\, this workshop is designed for you. \n \n\nDr Wayne Krause\n\n\n\nWayne\, the Associate Director of Adventist Mission at the South Pacific Division looking after Global Mission and Mission to the Cities.\n\nWayne is married to Tracey and they have one daughter Jessica.\n\nWayne is very passionate about seeing people far from God becoming life long\, multiplying disciples. He is known for having his “office” in a coffee shop\, so he can be in the community.\n\nAreas of interest for Wayne include:\n\n Disciple Making\n Interacting with Secular – Post Christians\n Church Planting\n Coaching\n\n\nNorthpine Christian College\nRoom S5

SUMMARY:Why We Relate the Way We Do : Attachment Theory
DESCRIPTION:If you have heard of attachment theory\, you may already know how deeply it can affect the way we connect with others. If you haven’t\, this Big Camp workshop\, presented by the Association of Adventist Counsellors\, is a wonderful opportunity to discover why it matters. \nAttachment theory helps us understand how our early experiences continue to shape our relationships and emotional wellbeing. More importantly\, it can help us build healthier connections and thrive in life\, regardless of our upbringing or where we have come from. \nThis workshop is for parents\, caregivers\, community workers\, teachers\, professionals and anyone who would like to strengthen their relationships or better understand the people in their lives. \nHer Christian upbringing nurtured a deep love for others and compassion for those who are suffering. Throughout her work\, Dr Lela has witnessed the devastating effects of domestic violence\, substance use\, family breakdown and insecure attachment among young people\, including some who were left living on the streets. She has been especially moved by the experiences of very young children growing up in dysfunctional environments. \nWondering what would become of these young people led her to study mental health\, psychology and psychiatry\, and more recently to undertake further academic research into attachment theory. \nCome and gain valuable insight into yourself\, your relationships and the people you care for—because “the quality of our relationships determines the quality of our lives.” \nSunday\, 20 September\n10:00–11:00 am\nLiterature Evangelists Hall \n \nPresenter Dr Lela Centinja-Lipohar is qualified in psychiatry (CMO) and psychotherapy (MMT) and has more than 20 years of experience in psychiatry and mental health

SUMMARY:The Prayer We Bring - When Prayer Gets Real - Mel Burrett
DESCRIPTION:The Prayer We Bring\nWe begin with our own stories: the hopes\, needs\, questions\, and longings that bring us to prayer. This session explores prayer as an honest relationship with God. It considers what it means to ask boldly and expectantly while approaching Him with trust and humility. \nWhen Prayer Gets Real –  Mel Burrett\nEvery prayer has a story. Every story invites us to discover something about God. \nWhen Prayer Gets Real is a five-day series of honest\, interactive conversations for adults navigating the joys\, questions\, disappointments\, and everyday realities of prayer. Together\, we will bring real-world stories into conversation with biblical truth\, making room for faith\, doubt\, breakthrough\, silence\, waiting\, and the many seasons in between. \nRather than offering formulas\, these workshops explore prayer as a relationship in which we can experience being known by God\, speak truthfully\, carry one another’s burdens and grow in understanding and trust through shared experiences. Whether your experience of prayer includes remarkable answers\, long seasons of waiting\, unanswered questions or a mixture of all of these and more\, there is a place for you in the conversation. Through the stories shared by our guest speakers\, you may recognise part of your own experience and be blessed by what we discover together \nCome ready to listen\, reflect\, ask honest questions\, and take another step towards a deeper connection with God and one another. \nMel Burrett Bio\n \nMel serves as Chaplain at Graceview Adventist College on the Gold Coast while also completing her Master of Ministry through Avondale University. Several years ago\, she left her career as a medical sonographer to follow God’s call into full-time ministry. With many years of experience serving in the church\, Mel is passionate about helping people encounter Jesus in ways that are authentic\, relevant\, relatable and life-giving. As a devoted wife and mother of four\, she seeks to reveal Jesus at home\, within her college community\, in her church family and wherever God opens opportunities. Mel brings passion\, wholehearted commitment and a contagious joy that flows through both her heart and voice.

DESCRIPTION:We’ll be covering Exodus 40\, one of the most pivotal chapters in Jewish history. \n\nThis was the day the Sanctuary was consecrated and its service set in motion — a service that would continue for millennia\, with the Jewish calendar’s most important dates coming to revolve around the Sanctuary\, each one a reminder of Israel’s sacred history.\nIt was also the day Aaron and his sons were consecrated for the priestly ministry\, entering a lasting covenant in which Levites as well as the whole nation were called to become a kingdom of priests unto God.\nAnd it was the day every piece of furniture in the Sanctuary was consecrated — though one item\, above all the rest\, was set apart as most holy.\n\nSo why does this chapter matter for us today\, as Christian Adventists? \nPr Zeny Vidacak – BIO \nZeny Vidacak \nPr Zeny Vidacak grew up in Bosnia\, and at just fifteen years old\, left home to join an Adventist seminary in Marusevec\, Croatia — spending seven wonderful years there in high school and theological training (1980–1987). From there he left what was then Yugoslavia to study at Newbold College in England (1988–1994)\, completing a double major in Theology and English Literature\, followed by a Master’s degree in Old Testament studies. \nWhile he was away\, war broke out in his homeland (1991–1997)\, and the Yugoslavia he had grown up in fractured into six new nations amid the bloodshed of the Balkan conflict. Then\, providentially\, in 1995 God opened a door for him on the other side of the world: a pastoral position in Australia. \nFor the past 30 years\, Pastor Zeny has served Brisbane churches — Springwood\, Garden City\, Summit\, Salisbury\, Eight Mile Plains\, and Mt Gravatt. His longest tenure has been at Mt Gravatt\, where he has now pastored for fifteen years. \nPr Zeny’s passion is Jesus and His amazing gospel\, and his greatest joy is preaching and teaching it. He is married to Svetlana\, the love of his life\, and together they have three children — Benjamin\, Samuel\, and Heidi. Outside of ministry\, he enjoys table tennis at the Brisbane Table Tennis Club and Sunday bike rides with fellow cycling enthusiasts.

SUMMARY:When We Ask - When Prayer Gets Real - Mel Burrett
DESCRIPTION:When We Ask\nSometimes prayer is answered unmistakably\, even miraculously. Through stories of answered prayer\, we will testify to the God who hears and acts\, while exploring how to respond with gratitude\, humility and sensitivity towards those still waiting or living with a different outcome. Together\, we will make space for both the testimonies and the tensions that arise when God does the extraordinary.
