Pain Management Workshop Returns

Last year’s Pain Management Workshop was a highlight, drawing a full house with its blend of solid scientific research and a powerful look at how God can work in healing.

Good news—it’s back again this year! And there’s an all-new session today exploring how painful chronic illnesses such as arthritis can be reversed.

Join in today from 3:45 pm to 4:45 pm in Room S4—expect another strong turnout, so come early to grab a seat and be inspired by both practical insights and spiritual encouragement.

ADRA Op-Shop: Guilt-Free Spending

The ADRA Op-Shop, right on the corner across from the ABC and Café, sells amazing things—from clothes to cuddly toys. But where does all the money go?

Every dollar collected supports ADRA Logan’s ministry for feeding the homeless and those in need. That means whatever you buy is completely guilt-free spending. You’re not just shopping—you’re helping feed the hungry, and isn’t that exactly what Jesus would want us to do?

Trivia Night Totals are In from the 25+ Tent

What seemed like a night full of fun activities and brain-teasing questions also had a purpose: supporting a project called Restore One. Restore One’s mission is to restore one child, one family, one village at a time, helping to keep families together—it’s not an orphanage.

Thanks to the incredible efforts of everyone who played, Trivia Night raised $2,589.21 for this amazing charity operating in Cambodia. Being right has never felt more “right”!

The President gives away free Weet-Bix

Our very own South Queensland Conference president, Brett Townend, was seen Sunday morning giving out free boxes of Weet-Bix and So Good Oat Milk. So delicious. They were so sought after that I have had young children from camp try to bargain for my box through the week, so Sanitarium must be onto something, right?

But this isn’t the usual Weet-Bix I used to know growing up as a kid. These are Weet-Bix bites—“coco crunch” Weet-Bix bites seem much more fitting for a Weet-Bix eating competition… ahh, those memories…

Hadessa: A Family Rooted in Faith

Hadessa comes from a remarkable line of Seventh-day Adventists—she is a fourth-generation SDA. Her mother is Samoan, from Apia, and her family’s journey to faith began over a century ago.

It all started with her great-grandfather, who held a high position in the Methodist Church. One day, he noticed an SDA pastor walking through his town and was handed a pamphlet called True Story, (Telemony in Samoan) printed in Samoa in 1911. Curious about the Sabbath, he invited the pastor to his home. During that visit, he received a book, studied it carefully, and soon began Bible studies with the pastor. He was eventually baptized, marking the start of a faith that would shape generations.

Her great-grandfather had originally planned to move to New Zealand to become a mechanic, not to enter ministry. But inspired and encouraged by the pastor, he pursued pastoral work instead. That decision set the course for Hadessa’s family, showing how literature and personal encounters can bring an entire family into the SDA Church. – A personal testimony from the LE Hall

Baby Curlew Chicks Have Hatched

The baby curlew chicks have hatched and been safely whisked away by their parents. A big thank you to everyone for respecting their space and not disturbing these endangered birds. (only one of the two chicks are visible here)

25+ Tent Smashing Attendance Records

With over 550 people attending to hear gospel-centered, dynamic messages, the 25+ tent is really proving itself. The café is open longer hours this year, and it’s clearly a winning formula.

Last night’s message focused on salvation: there is only one way to be saved, but two ways to be lost. Curious to know what they are? You’ll have to ask one of the hundreds in attendance—or check out the live stream archive!

Youth Tent Buzzing with Energy

The Youth Tent is alive with young people from all walks of life—some taking a week off work for a spiritual boost, others joining in the evenings after busy days in the city, and some enjoying a well-earned break.

Despite their different schedules, they all share one thing: listening to gospel messages packed with stories and examples. Last night’s session highlighted lessons from Paul’s life, teaching about being content whether rich or poor, and showing that life circumstances don’t have to determine our happiness and peace.

A favourite story from last years LE’s

Back in the day, Pr. Kevin Geelan was working as a Literature Evangelist in Wollongong. While there, his daughter was attending violin lessons. One day, the violin teacher asked the pastor’s wife what Kevin did for a living. She replied, “He works on projects for the community. It’s hard to describe; it would be better to just make an appointment and let him show you.”

The teacher agreed and made an appointment, but forgot to tell her husband. When Kevin arrived at their address to give his presentation, he saw they lived in a beautiful house right on the mountainside overlooking the harbour. He found out that the husband was a world-class viola teacher with international students who would stay at his house while he taught them. Undaunted, Kevin started his book presentation to the family.

There were three children in the home—a 15-year-old girl, a 10-year-old boy, and an 8-year-old girl. By the end of the presentation, the mother wanted the home medicine books, the daughter wanted the teen book Everything a Teenage Girl Should Know, the son wanted The Handbook for Boys, and the youngest? She wanted the entire Bible Story set!

While taking it all in, the father started asking questions. Pr. Kevin, without missing a beat, said, “I’ve got just the thing in the car; I’ll be right back.” He returned with the entire Conflict of the Ages series. The father told Pr. Kevin that had he come two weeks ago, he would’ve said no to all of this. But for the last two weeks, he’d had a Mormon student from Utah in the USA keeping him up until 2 a.m. every night talking about God.

So at the perfect time, God filled the home with two health books, two teen guides, the eight-volume Bible Story set, and the entire five-book Conflict of the Ages series—an LE’s dream and a decent commission for all those books!

When asked if the family became Adventist, Kevin humbly says, “That’s not my business,” and then quotes 1 Corinthians 3:6: “I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God gives the increase.”

Faith Amoung the Ruins

Pr Gideon Okesene took the Big Tent on a guided tour of the ancient world—focusing on “Pr John,” as he affectionately calls the Apostle John. Through archaeological sites and vivid reconstructions, he showed how the early church sometimes lost its way—and how those lessons still challenge us today. Definitely worth catching the replay!
