Three years in a row trivia champion reigns again

The dreams of hopeful trivia competitors to finally beat Team Mitch were shattered as Team Mitch, won once again, crushed the competition with the same ferocity as the stone that smashed the toes in Daniel chapter 2. Mitch’s team claimed victory once more – and handsomely at that. This year, physical challenges were added between the rounds, offering the winners an extra 5 bonus points per challenge. But Mitch’s team didn’t need them. They still won, even at the disadvantage of not having the 15 bonus points up for grabs.

But I’ve got a plan to finally dethrone Mitch next year—let him write the questions! It’s the only way I can see to stop the trivia freight train that is Team Mitch. Otherwise, we might as well engrave next year’s trophy with his name right now to save time. (And just for the record, the fact that the editor and Mitch used to share a house in Sydney has absolutely nothing to do with this healthy rivalry!)

Pool Hours

SWIMMING POOL:
The swimming pool hours will be posted on the gate at the pool. The pool is limited to 150 people—you may need to wait in line. Children 14 years and under must be accompanied by an adult (18 or over).

Everyone must wear shoes when entering and exiting the swimming pool; pool supervisors to monitor that this is being followed. Obey the lifeguard at all times.

OPENING HOURS:
Sunday to Thursday 2 pm – 5 pm
Friday 1 pm – 4 pm

Morning Exercise Classes

The 6am exercise classes are located at the Gymnasium near the school. This is the big building near the swimming pool at the top of the hill amongst all the caravans.

iPhone App Update Available you can download it now

Those who are using an iPhone to read the camp news each morning can rejoice as we have listened to your requests and have some good news to share. One of the big differences between the Android and iPhone versions of this app was the ability to ‘pinch-to-zoom’. Apple users weren’t able to zoom in to view photos or text. We received requests to enable this feature, and Apple has approved our changes. So if you update the app, you can test-drive this new feature.

On another note, this update would normally cost almost $400 to push through, however, the Editor has a birthday today, so as a special birthday present, his uncle and cousin, who are software developers, stayed up past midnight with him last night making the required programming changes and app publication to the App Store for him. That was pretty special.

Incredibly Long Lines for Sanitarium Products

Sanitarium Health Food Company made their presentation in the Big Tent yesterday, followed by the giveaway of free samples. To say it was very popular would be an understatement. The long line waiting for Sanitarium products rivalled that of a new iPhone launch. The Editor wanted to snap a photo, but with the line stretching the entire length of the Big Tent (and then some), it just wasn’t possible. However, the Editor heard delightful reports of people, while queuing to share in the health food blessings, exchanging stories of how they share their faith in the world.

Bookworms are very respectful at Big Camp

If you were up early yesterday morning, you likely witnessed one of the highlights of Big Camp for many people: thousands of quality second-hand books on sale. There was quite a gathering on the footpath, with a thin rope being the only barrier between them and some unbeatable bargains. The busy ABC staff were working quickly to load the tables with all manner of books, while the crowd waited patiently for Gloria’s signal to let them charge. Despite the space only allowing one person deep on each sides, it all went smoothly. We pray a blessing over the readers of the quality religious materials that found new homes.

There is a new barber in town, and he’s very good

Head to the ADRA Tent today – not the Expo Hall booth, but last year’s Op-Shop spot (between the ABC and the Big Tent)- and get your hair cut at Camp. Well, at least half of us can. @epa_the_barber is very skilled with the blade, scissors and clippers. He tells me the difference is in the attention to detail and doing the edges with a razor. And the best part is that 100% of the proceed go to ADRA. Epa isn’t making a cent from it, simply donating his time – so it’s a win for your look and a win for a great cause. But hurry, he’ll be busy, so first in, best dressed…

Acti-Pass Purchases can be made up to midday for the next days activities

If you haven’t purchased an acti-pass yet, don’t worry, you can still do the activities – starting tomorrow! Participants will need to collect their wristbands from the Acti-pass office located near the top registration office near the Pine Rivers Church. Activities can be purchased online from links found in this app or in-person at the acti-pass office by midday the day before. So, don’t miss the bus! Get yourself organised the day before. Enjoy!

75% of the population are sleep deprived

Sleep deprivation is a serious health concern and, according to Pamela Townend, most don’t even know it. There are some devastating outcomes that result from staying in this state for too long, however, she wouldn’t let me share them with you here. For that you have to go to her workshop – tap here for details. She will also be doing circulation testing at the end for a gold coin donation, so please come prepared.

Workshops Start today in a different location to last year

Workshops kick off in full force today, but heads up they’re in a different location from last year. The Editor heard great feedback from the few that started yesterday, but don’t head to the building next to the pool like in previous years. You’ll only find signs directing you to the new location. Check out the “You Are Here” marker below showing last year’s location, and follow the arrows to the black squares for where they’re being held this year.

One of the most eagerly awaited workshops has been cancelled

Sadly, due to illness, we’ve had to cancel the workshops hosted by Edyta & Darius Jankiewicz. Many were looking forward to hearing them present at the workshop, and while Darius will still be presenting in the Big Tent in the mornings, sadly his wife has fallen ill and won’t be able to join us.

You can still hear Darius Jankiewicz presentations in the Big Tent at his scheduled times, where he will be talking about the THE STORY OF GOD’S GRACE, from 9.30 am – 10.30 am every morning this week. I highly recommend attending. Let’s keep Edyta in our thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery.
