You don’t always have to travel far to find a mission field. For about 12 Big Camp attendees, it was just across the road!

The group headed into the neighbourhood beside the campgrounds, sharing their faith through books, offers of prayer and invitations to come and enjoy camp. There was a special welcome for residents in the new estates, some of whom were curious about the “tent city” that had sprung up nearby. What a great opening for a conversation!

Everyone returned with a positive experience. Most people accepted books, and a few expressed interest in visiting Big Camp themselves.

With so much happening inside the campgrounds, it’s encouraging to see dedicated Christians taking time to share the hope we’re enjoying with our neighbours. A friendly conversation, a book and an invitation can give someone much more than an explanation for all those tents.

Nick Kross shared how after Gilbert Cangy retired he now runs a program called Catalyst, a program passionate about turning church members into disciples who are sold out for Jesus Christ.

Students can come along and be fully housed in the dorms and they can be immersed in teachings with over 20 presenters, for 13 weeks for the cost of $3,000 it actually costs a lot more than that but the SPD is sponsoring every student to the tune of about $3,500.

With 25 stalls, rides, a petting zoo and entertainment on stage, Family Fun Day gave campers plenty to enjoy while supporting church fundraising projects. Each church raised funds individually, so there isn’t a combined fundraising total available, but bigger and better plans are already taking shape for 2027!

Want your church to be part of it? Start with a fundraising idea and a church project to support. It could be repairs, mission, Pathfinders, Adventurers or another local church need. Get your church board’s approval, then watch for applications in the new year.

Sonshine Sanctuary is accepting donations at their Expo Hall stall on Thursday and Friday. Drop off your extras before heading home and turn your leftover camp supplies into a blessing for someone else.

Those Bible felt sets tucked away in cupboards could have a whole new audience!

Roseli Peach has found that while Bible stories are often told in different ways in Australia these days, many churches and families still have felt figures and scenes that could make a real difference in the Solomon Islands.

Sets such as the illustrated Betty Lukens Bible Story Felt Board Figures are welcome, but any felt board figures and scenes would be greatly appreciated, along with children’s Christian storybooks and Sabbath School aids.

After recently working with ‘Solomons for Christ’, Roseli has seen the need firsthand. Donated resources and Bibles will be shipped in a few weeks, so now is a great time to open those cupboards!
