Teen Tent Thursday Morning Activities Cancelled

Thursday morning’s planned activities before the 10-Pin Bowling outing have been cancelled.

Morning Worship will run as usual, but after that the next item on the teen program is meeting at the bus at 11:20 am for 10-Pin Bowling—which is still going ahead as planned.

New initiatives to keep baptismal contacts

Across the Adventist Church there are many ways people first express interest in baptism—summer camps, Pathfinders, Big Camp, youth rallies, or through ministries such as the Discovery Bible School, Faith FM, and Hope Channel. In the past, these valuable requests for Bible studies were often passed on to local churches by paper forms or emails.

To make sure no one slips through the cracks, the South Pacific Division has launched a new system called Thrive. This simple platform gathers all baptismal study requests in one place and passes them to local churches. Each church can appoint a pastor or member as a Thrive coordinator, who then connects every new contact with someone ready to study with them—helping ensure every precious decision for Christ is nurtured and followed up.

One Big Band, Many Hometowns

The youth tent band really lives up to its name, drawing musicians from across the South Queensland Conference—from regional country towns to the city suburbs—coming together for the very first time. The powerful congregational singing each night is proof of how beautifully they lead us in praising God.

Program leader Malin Anderson has shaped an atmosphere that keeps Jesus front and centre. Meanwhile the café crew—youth from Gatton and Mt Gravatt plus Avondale students under the leadership of Cheonton and Taylor Strickland—are keeping everyone well fed with tireless, round-the-clock effort. Avondale University has joined the fun too, sponsoring the café with free pancakes each morning and extra staff throughout the day.

And here’s something we’re especially proud of: the entire sound, lighting and visuals team is made up of our own youth. Their willingness to give their time not only provides great stewardship but also empowers the next generation for ministry.

Early Morning Exercise Class

While most of us are snuggled deep under the doona trying to ignore the chilly morning air, a brave crew is out there warming up the old-fashioned way—by actually moving. Surely their efforts count as exercise for the rest of us too… right? If so, we’re already halfway to a personal best without even leaving the pillow!

The classes have been run by Aaron and Jeanita Potini from the Brisbane Cook Island SDA Church

A Big Thank You from the ADRA hair Team and ADRA Op-Shop

A quick update for everyone who has supported the ADRA haircut station this week: there will be no men’s or ladies’ haircuts on Friday, despite what was advertised earlier. They will be closed the same as the ADRA Op-Shop.

Our heartfelt thanks to everyone who booked an appointment—you helped raise much-needed funds! We’re especially grateful to our talented team: barber Epa, hairdresser Dr Emma, and our ever-enthusiastic hype man Lyndon.

Some wonderful conversations have been shared in the chair this week, and we deeply appreciate every single one of you who stopped by.
